An interesting read about perhaps the most important election in our nation's history. It also serves as a powerful remineder that despite all the rhetoric of our elected officials and talking heads, our country is not currently "the most divided it has ever been." It was clearly more so in 1864, yet peaceful, democratic elections were still able to go forward. ( )

After months of slogging along, I have finally arrived at Lincoln's nomination to run for a second term in the Presidency. I sure hope I'll finish.

A great book about that pivotal election year. I am biased, of course, because I met the author who signed my copy of the book. ( )
