The London and Paris ladies' magazine of fashion
"Focusing on fashion, the London and Paris Ladies' Magazine was a luxuriously produced monthly magazine priced 1s. Each issue contained colour plates of several figures set in leisured surroundings described in detail, with accompanying black and white pages showing back views, as well as poetry and fiction. Its editor was Mrs. Edward Thomas, then from 1847 Hon. Mrs. Ford. During its long run it experienced mergers, title and subtitle changes and contained the same content as other journals with different titles. In 1832 Le Beau Monde (1806-1831) was absorbed by it, followed by the Ladies' Museum (1828-1832) in 1833. It was the same as the World of Fashion (1824-1851) and Townsend's Monthly Selection of Parisian Fashions (1823-1888). From 1828-1834, it was also known in caption titles by variants on the cover title: as the Ladies' Magazine of Fashion from 1828-1834, in 1835 as Robertson's Monthly Fashions and in later additions its main title was sometimes extended to the London and Paris Ladies' Magazine of Fashion, Literature and Arts. These modifications were evident in numerous fashion and women's journals of the period, and reflected the constant changes characteristic of the fashion industry itself.
