SIR: I have the honor to hand you herewith the following statements in answer to the resolution of the House of Representatives, on motion of Mr. Ward, under date of April 7, 1862, and referred to this office for report, viz: No. 1. Statement of the "amount and kinds of the productions of the British colonies imported into the United States, free of duty, under the provisions of the treaty between Great Britain and the United States, known as the reciprocity treaty,' and of the amount and kinds of the productions of the United States exported to the British colonies under the stipulations of the said treaty, from the ratification thereof to the present time," June 30, 1861. No. 2. Statement exhibiting the amount and kinds of like productions imported from Canada, separately, and together with those imported from other British North American possessions into the United States from 1850, inclusive, until the ratification of said treaty, and of the amount of revenue which accrued thereon during that period. No. 3. Statement exhibiting the value and kinds of domestic produce, free under the treaty, exported to said colonies prior to ratification of treaty. No. 4. Statement exhibiting the amount and kinds of manufactures and other articles of United States origin, not free of duty under the provisions of the said treaty, exported to the same colonies from 1850, inclusive, to the present time, June 30, 1861. Which, with the statements of imports from the said colonies, not free of duty under the provisions of the said treaty, and the exports of foreign merchandise from the United States to the said colonies-the former now nearly ready for delivery-will complete the information requested. SIR: I have the honor to transmit herewith a statement exhibiting the imports not free by treaty stipulations from the British colonies into the United States during the years 1850, '51, '52, '53, '54, '55, '56, '57, '58, '59, '60, and '61, ending on the 30th of June of each year, respectively, which is the last but one of the statements required in answer to the resolution of Mr. Ward, offered April 7, 1862, in the House of Representatives.
