TO THE PUBLIC.
Being established permanently in the busine48 of circu. lating Books by Traveling Agents solely, I have adopted these as my rules :
196. To dispose of my Books only through my own Agents, and not through Booksellers or Peddlers, als thereby I secole uniformity of prices.
%d. To obligate my Agenig by a written contract not to soll any of my publications for less than their regular prices.
3d. To furnisha to Subscribers, Books in every respect fully equal to tlac sa Hin ple copies.
40. Not to reduce the price of 22ny Books after their dret issie.
To show my observance of these rules thus far, and as an ea ritest of any future intentions, I here state, that I have mot allowed any Work on Ohiothe first edition of which was issued ten years since-o be placed for sale in a sidegle Bookstore in the Union, nor sold for less than the original price of Three Dollars per copy.
It is my desire, that who ursoever may read thin, or any of Hy publications, should recollect the name of the publisher, as it is my intention tlaat it shall never be attached to any work that will not be generally valued, far beyond its mere money cost, boy olac la families as may possess it. That I have thus far succeeded in my efforts, is evinced by the greatly increased sales of neay Books in those com 41nities witere the reputation of the publisher has been established by former purchases.
It shall be any endeavor to continue the publication of none but Books of decided merit, and to conduct any business in a systematic, honorable manner; all of whicla, aside from the pleasure it is certain to confer, will result in the generous patronage of an appreciating public.
