THE term "Superior Spirit" has not been adopted to imply any mental or moral superiority in the writer, but simply to indicate the point from which he has attempted to view the subject-that is, from the highest attainable point of elevation: so that he might, as it were, look down upon it, and contemplate it with an impartial Survey of the Whole.
