the relief of Amos Addis," shall be so construed, and the true intent and meaning of the same is hereby declared to be that the prothonotary who entered the acknowledgments of the treasurer's deeds, for the lands sold at the treasurer's sales, of unseated lands in Lycoming county, in June, one thousand eight hundred and fifty, shall be allowed and entitled to receive from the late treasurer of said county, the same fees for so doing that were allowed prothonotaries for entering the acknowledg ment of treasurer's deeds, by the act of the thirteenth of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventeen, and that the fees thereafter to be allowed to the prothonotary of said county for similar services, shall be the same that are authorized by the act last af ›resaid.

SECTION 11. That Charles Allen and Furman Field, of the county of Lycoming, their heirs and assigns, be, and they are hereby authorized of and empowered to erect and maintain on the West Branch of the river Susquehanna, from an island owned by said Furman Field, to adjoin the land of the said Charles Allen, such boom or booms with piers, as may be necessary, for the purpose of stopping and securing logs, masts, spars, and other lumber floating upon said river, and to erect such piers, side branch, or shear booms at the west end of said island, as may be necessary for that purpose: Provided always, That the said boom piers, &c., shall be erected and maintained under the like restrictions, and limitations, and with the same powers and authorities (excepting the corporate powers) granted to John Leighton, and his associates, by an act entitled "An Act to incorporate the Susquehanna boom company," passed the twenty-sixth day of March, eighteen hundred and forty-six.

Regulating certain election districts.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That

from and after the passage of this act, the qualified electors of the town- Middle Smithship of Middle Smithfield, in Monroe county, shall hold their general field township, and township elections at the house of James Place, in said township. AN ACT

For the relief of certain soldiers and widows of soldiers of the Revolutionary and
Indian wars.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the State Treasurer, be, and is hereby authorized and required to pay to Margaret Gompf, of Lancaster county, widow of Michael Gompf, a soldier of the Revolutionary war, or to her order, an annuity of forty dollars, during her natural life, to be paid half-yearly, commencing on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two.

SECTION 2. That the State Treasurer, be, and he is hereby authorized and required to pay Elizabeth Snyder, of Cumberland county, widow of John Snyder, a Revolutionary soldier, forty dollars, annually, during her life, payable half-yearly, commencing on the first day of January, Anno Domini, one thousand. eight hundred and fifty-two.

SECTION 3. That the State Treasurer, be, and is hereby authorized and required to pay to Margaret Blackford, widow of Jacob Blackford, an old soldier of the Revolutionary war, or to her order, an annuity of forty dollars, to be paid half-yearly, commencing on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two.

SECTION 4. That the State Treasurer, be, and he is hereby authorized to pay to John Boughner, of Centre county, a soldier of the Revolutionary and Indian wars, a gratuity of forty dollars, payable upon the passage of this act.

SECTION 5. That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to pay Esther Duncan, of Cambria county, a widow of a soldier of the Revolutionary war, or her order, an annuity of forty dollars, in half-yearly payments, to commence on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two.

SECTION 6. That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized and required to pay Mary Burk, of York county, a widow of a soldier of the Revolutionary war, or her order, an annuity of forty dollars, in halfyearly payments, to commence on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two.

SECTION 7. That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized and required to pay to Tacy Thompson, of Fayette county, Pennsylvania, or to her order, forty dollars, during her natural life, payable half-yearly, commencing on the first day of January, Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two: Provided, That an act granting to Lucy Thomp son an annuity of forty dollars, approved the sixth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two, be, and the same is hereby repealed.

A FURTHER SUPPLEMENT

To the act incorporating the Philadelphia, Germantown, and Norristown railroad company; relative to the Tioga railroad company; to a culvert along Cohocksink creek; and to Washington street, in the District of Kensington; and to the plan of Penn District.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the Philadelphia, Germantown, and Norristown railroad company, may at Company auany public meeting of the stock and loanholders, called upon at least therized to borten days' notice, authorize and empower the board of managers to borrow money. row any sum which the said company shall think necessary to construct and pay for depots, repair, re-lay, and improve their tracks, and to make any other permanent improvements, which the said company may think desirable or expedient, and upon making such loans the board of managers shall issue certificates of loan bearing such interest not exceeding seven per cent. per annum, and upon such terms or times of payment as may be agreed on between the lenders and the managers of the said company, to be transferable only upon the books of the company, as may be directed by the by-laws: Provided, That such loans shall not Proviso. exceed one hundred thousand dollars, and sha:l not be issued in sums less than one hundred dollars nor in any fractional part of that sum.

SECTION 2. SECTION 4. SECTION 5. That the cost of the construction of the culvert or culverts aforesaid, shall be paid as provided for in the second section of said act.

SECTION 6. That the third section of said act be, and the same is hereby repealed.

SECTION 7. That before Washington street, between Norris and Diamond streets, in the district of Kensington, and county of Philadelphia, shall be opened to the width of one hundred and twenty feet, as laid down upon the plan of the survey of said district, compensation in full value shall be made to the owner or owners thereof for all grounds, and all buildings now erected upon any portion of said grounds, situated between the east and west lines of Washington street, and be tween Norris and Diamond streets aforesaid.

SECTION 8. That the recording surveyor of the district of Penn, in Philadelphia county, be, and he is hereby authorized to revise the plac of said district, and to make such alterations in the lines of the streets in the vicinity of the Philadelphia, Germantown, and Norristown railroad, as he may deem expedient, and prepare a plan thereof, which, when approved by the board of commissioners of said district, and confirmed by the Court of Common Pleas of said county, shall be, and re main unalterable, and a copy of said plan shall be filed in the office of the clerk of said court.
