The number of the prizes adjudicated to this date (Jan. 27, 1867), is seven hundred and thirty. The total amount of money involved-including that for distribution to the captors, and that which is passed to the credit of the United States-is about $25,000,000. Payment has already been made to nearly ten thousand different claimants, in sums varying from twenty-five cents to thirty-eight thousand dollars. There still remain to be adjudicated about six hundred prizes, the most of which will probably be condemned and the proceeds paid to the captors.
