accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king,
prince, or foreign State.

TREASON. All civil officers shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction

TREASON against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adher-
ing to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of
treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession

TREASON. A person charged with treason and fleeing from one State to another, to be deli-
vered up, on demand, to the State having jurisdiction.
TREASURY. The Senators and Representatives shall receive a compensation for their ser-

vices, to be ascertained by law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States.
TREASURY. No money shall be drawn from the Treasury but in consequence of appropria-
tions made by law; and a regular statement and account of the receipts and expenditures
of all public money shall be published from time to time.

TRIAL. A party convicted on an impeachment shall nevertheless be liable and subject to in-
dictment, trial, judgment, and punishment, according to law.

TRIAL by jury. The trial of all crimes, except in cases of impeachment, shall be by jury, and
such trial shall be held in the State where the said crimes shall have been committed;
but when not committed within any State, the trial shall be at such place or places as the
Congress may by law direct

TRIAL. In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public
trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been com-
mitted, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law.
TRIAL by jury. In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty
dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved; and no fact tried by a jury shall be
otherwise re-examined in any court of the United States

TRIBUNALS. Congress shall have power to constitute tribunals inferior to the Supreme Court

TRIED. When the President of the United States is tried on an impeachment, the Chief Justice shall preside.

TROOPS. No State shall, without the consent of Congress, lay any duty of tonnage, keep troops
or ships of war, in time of peace.

TRUST. Judgment, in cases of impeachment, shall not extend further than removal from office,
and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit, under the United
States
TRUST. No person holding an office of trust or profit under the United States shall be appointed
an elector

ject to the revision and control of the Congress
