No. 24.

IN ASSEMBLY, JAN. 27, 1851.

REPORT

Of the committee on claims, on the petition of Stiles Johnson and Norman Butler for relief.

Mr. Severance, from the committee on claims, to which was referred the petition of Stiles Johnson and Norman Butler, for the passage of a law providing for the adjustment of their claim arising out of certain canal contracts,

REPORTS:

That they have examined the petition and papers referred to them, and have come to the conclusion that the petitioners should have a hearing and decision upon the claims they have presented. The facts and circumstances connected with this case are to be found particularly and correctly set forth in the report of the committee on claims made to the Legislature last year, which report will be found in Assembly document No. 101, of 1850, to which they would respectfully refer.

In addition it may be stated that a bill introduced by said committee for the relief of the petitioners, passed the Assembly of last year, without, as they are informed, any opposition, and was lost in the Senate for want of time.

The committee ask leave to introduce a bill.
