CONSUMPTION

AND ALL LUNG DISEASES.

By G. T. CONGREVE, Coombe Lodge, Peckham.

The Nature, Progress, and True Treatment of this Scourge of England.

The following Cases are selected from the THIRTEENTH SERIES, now being published.

REMARKABLE CASE AT SHAFTESBURY, WILTS.

This case was introduced to me by MRS. M. J. BRAGG, the wife of an evangelist at Shaftesbury.

My medicine had been first recommended to Mrs. Bragg by my old friend, Rev. T. King, of Semley, who was my correspondent for many years (see Case VI. of my book). Mrs. Bragg being greatly benefited by the taking of my medicine herself, tells me that since coming to Shaftesbury she has recommended it to many, who have recovered, and cites this remarkable case :

The name of the patient was then MISS BURR, of SHAFTESBURY, but now MRS. PERRELL, of HINDON, WILTS. She first took cold by sitting in a damp She lost her voice for two years. She consulted different doctors, and last of all attended the Salisbury Infirmary, where she was pronounced incurable; also a doctor in Bournemouth declared her case to be hopeless.

room.

"I found her (says my correspondent) apparently in the last stage of Consumption, violent cough, profuse expectoration, her voice gone, her eyes protruding, and greatly reduced. I advised your treatment, telling her it had been the means, in God's hands, of my own restoration, after having been prostrate for months. She hesitated; said she had 'tried so many things without effect, and she had given up all hopes.' However, she did commence, and the result of one supply of medicine induced her to continue. She gradually got better, her voice was restored. She has continued quite well ever since. Her father, residing at Shaftesbury, is deeply grateful, and will be pleased to confirm the statement of her case."

CASE OF CONSUMPTION "GIVEN UP" AS HOPELESS.

MRS. F. WINGROVE, of 35, Chantry Road, Brixton, S. W., writing for medicine for family use, says: "I have very great faith in it, and advise all consumptive people to take it. I was given up by Dr. Cotton, of the Brompton Hospital, and I believe it is owing to your valuable medicine that I am alive to-day. You are at liberty to make use of my letter in any way you think proper."

THE EDITOR OF THE "CHRISTIAN

December 4th:

GLOBE" writes

"A lady from the Isle of Wight, whose name we are not at liberty to publish, sends us quite a list of cures in which she is interested; the sufferers have been induced by her to adopt Mr. Congreve's treatment, and in every case with not only beneficial, but marvellous results. We feel that we should be neglecting a plain and manifest duty did we not make known the result of our inquiries, more especially at this period of the year, when the poor victims of this dread disease are day by day losing their lives through what it is hardly too strong to designate as 'The Nation's Curse.'"

AND SPEEDY CURE.

CLEAVER'S COUGH PILLS

[blocks in formation]

The extraordinary power of these Pills has been proved by a mass of evidence and testimonials, which have been published from time to time. By their soothing influence they afford the best possible relief to elderly people suffering from Difficult Breathing, Asthma, &c.

The following are a few unsolicited Testimonials received by the Proprietor during last winter:

"122, Sandpits, The Parade, Birmingham, January 27th, 1883. Dear Sir, I received the Box of Cough Pills quite safe, and I am grateful to the gentleman in Birmingham who advised me to give YOUR COUGH PILLS a trial. I can state with confidence that they have completely Cured my Cough, and I can breathe more freely; in fact, the first Pill relieved my Cough and Breathing, and gave me a good night's rest. I may state that I have had a most DISTRESSING COUGH regular for about Fifteen Winters, and have had Cough Mixtures and Pills from very SKILFUL MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS; one was the OLDEST and MOST EXPERIENCED in the North of England. In conclusion, I intend to always keep a few of your Pills by me, and will also recommend them to my friends and acquaintances who have Coughs and a difficulty in breathing. Yours respectfully,

TO MR. S. CLEAVER, Chemist, LEICESTER.

W. L. METCALFE."

"Clyde Street, Humberstone Road.

Having suffered from a very troublesome Cough for several years, accompanied by difficulty of breathing, I was recommended to try your Pills, which I am pleased to state gave me relief. I am 70 years of age, and, my complaint being constitutional, have taken many different preparations, but nothing has given me so much relief as your avluable Pills. I recommend them to everybody. March 1st, 1883.

WILLIAM LORD, Clyde Street."

"181, Humberstone Road, Leicester, April 27th, 1883. Dear Sir,-During a long and severe illness of Consumption accompanied with a violent Cough, causing a continued loss of rest, which made me prostrate, when a friend brought me a box of your unequalled Cough Pills, which gave me immediate relief. I have continued to take them, they being the only remedy that I derived any benefit from, and trust this testimonial will be the means of influencing other sufferers to give them a trial. Believe me, yours very truly, W. J. WESTLY.

HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT & PILLS.

WHENEVER the weather is variable, and the temperature constantly changing, the weak and delicate must be very careful to neglect no symptom of disordered action or ill-health. Weak-chested and strumous subjects will find in these noble remedies the means of casting out the bad humours which originate and prolong their sufferings. The Ointment should be well rubbed twice a day over the chest and the Pills taken in alterative doses. It will penetrate and act most wholesomely and energetically on the diseased structure. These remedies manifest a wonderful power in removing all taints from the blood, and consequently in curing a multitude of chronic ailments, which seemed to be almost irremediable.
