REPORT.

To the Stockholders of the Western Rail Road Corporation.

At the time of the last Annual Meeting, the division of the road between Worcester and Seven Mile river in East Brookfield, about 19 1-2 miles, was under contract, and in process of grading. Since that period, this work has been steadily pursued, though with a force much diminished for the last six months. About 16 miles of this division are now graded, and ready for the superstructure. Upon the remaining 3 1-2 miles, much of the work is already done. Of this, one mile at New Worcester may be graded by the first of November next; one mile at the summit, which is 12 miles from Worcester, may be finished in about one year, and the residue by mid-summer of the present year.
