NOTE. THE publishers of the Atlantic Monthly issued in 1889 an Index of all articles, with the names of authors appended, which had appeared in the magazine from its establishment in 1857 to the close of the sixty-second volume in 1888. The present Index begins with the year 1889, and is brought down to the close of the year 1901. It thus covers Volumes LXIII.-LXXXVIII., inclusive.
