And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.-I Corinthians 3: 10-23.

Gracious Father, we meet at the end of the week to bless Thy Name for the joys and demands of the Christian life. We thank Thee that we live in a land of freedom, where the privileges of opportunity are open to every one. We believe that merit comes to its own, and that genius and industry obtain the prizes of life. We pray for the public school and for all colleges, universities, and professional schools in our land, that they may train our youth in ways that will prepare them not merely to make a living but to grow a life in fidelity and honor. We pray for the Young Men's and Young Women's Christian Associations and other kindred societies which build character. We pray for the Governor and legislature of our State and for all who occupy positions of leadership within its bounds, including the civic, municipal, industrial, commercial workers of our own town. We also pray for every State in the Union, for the President and Congress, and for all associated in establishing law and order. May the entire citizenship of our nation be loyal to the limit of its ability, and may the churches cooperate and lead to make our great democracy a praise in all the earth, by becoming an increasingly faithful steward of benefits and blessings to every nation in need, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Sunday: WRESTLING AND WINNING

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. . . Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.—II Corinthians 8:9; 9: 15.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.-Ephesians 6: 10-18, 23, 24.

Eternal God, we pray Thee for courage to keep the Christian ideal before us and earnestly to follow it from day to day. We are aware that the Christian life is one of struggle against evil and that the path is marked by

difficulties. But Thou hast promised to be with us, and the banner over us is "Love divine, all loves excelling." Let us trust and not be afraid. Let us confide in Thee and not be cowardly. Let us follow Christ and not suffer sin to check our progress. Help us to be at our best in all our undertakings, knowing that Thou art honored in the small things no less than in the big things. May we remember that greatness is not measured by size and quantity, but by spirit and quality. Keep us at all times in the way of Thy precepts and promises. Unite all Christians in the bonds of common sympathy, so that their united obedience to Thy will may bring deliverance and peace to the nations of the world. May the virtues of this sacred day strengthen us for the duties of the week and may we find peace in the presence of Christ.

Monday

Monday: SPIRITUAL FREEDOM

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. . . . Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.—II Corinthians 8:9; 9: 15.

...

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit..

...

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.-Romans 8: 1-4, 12-18.

Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for the eternal inheritance of spiritual freedom in Jesus Christ. Open our

hearts to the influence of the Holy Spirit, that we may have finer discernment of Thy truth and richer refreshment in prompt attention to duty. Strengthen our innermost being, that our thoughts may be pure, our desires right, our words clean, our deeds worthy of Christ. May we form helpful habits and indulge in honorable practices. May we think of the past with gratitude, of the present with diligence, and of the future with hopefulness. May we be ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, even at some inconvenience to ourselves. Forgive us our indifference and selfishness. Inspire us with kindness and sympathy. Direct us in the name of Him who went about doing good. Remove misunderstanding, suspicion, and discord, which so sadly obscure our ideals and visions, and which prevent us from advancing in richer friendship and fellowship with Thee. May the number of the faithful greatly increase, to the glory of Christ and the blessedness of the race.
