INTERROGATORIES

TO PERSONS CLAIMING AS JOINT CAPTORS.

Ordered, that whenever evidence is to be taken in Cause, for the purpose of determining what public ship the United States are entitled to share in the prize, the following interrogatories shall be put to the several persons whose testimony shall be taken. If the deponents are not within this District, the interrogatories shall be administered and the answers written by, and the oath to the a taken before, some Judge or Commissioner of a Cou ates, or Consul or Vice Con

sul of the United States, or Notary Public, or Commanding Officer of a public ship of the United States. If the deponent is the Commanding Officer of a ship, and there is no one of the persons above named within convenient distance, his deposition may be taken before the officer next in rank on board his ship.

Interrogatories to be answered by parties claiming to share in distribution of prize money in the above entitled cause, or by witnesses examined in behalf of such claim.

1. Please to state your name, age, rank, and office, and the service you are now on.

In wat vessel were you, and in what capacity, at the time of the capture of the prize as to which you are now examined?

When and where was the capture made? Give the day and hour, and latitude and longitude, as nearly as you can. What was the nearest land, and how did it bear, and what was its distance? Give the state of the weather and atmosphere, and the degree of light or darkness at the times of the pursuit and capture, and the opportunities for ng distant objects.

4. What vessel was the the prize, and took possession of her? Describe that vessel, and state whether she was a steamer or sailing vessel, what her size, denomination, rig, horse-power, armament, number of men, weight of metal and size and form of guns, and means of offence and defence, and of what material she was built, her ram or beak, if any, and anything tending to show her force for purposes of attack or defence.
