40. Myrrh and spices will I bring, Close the door from sight and sound And in patient watch remain Still with Thee their Sabbath keep, In yon still grave art keeping! Nought hurts Thee more, Bore our sins unnumber'd. Amen. Thou awful tomb, Once fill'd with gloom! How blessed and how holy Art thou now, since in the grave Slept the SAVIOUR Lowly! How calm and blest The dead now rest, O blessed Rock! Soon grant Thy flock To see its Easter morning! Strife and pain will all be past When that Day is dawning. Amen. 42. Our souls triumphant say; Let Heaven and earth their music bring The LORD is risen, to bless Where'er the curse is found; The LORD is risen, and all His enemies must fall; With songs the Universe shall ring The LORD is risen, and we Through Him and mount the skies; And then the Church in Heaven shall sing Her dying, rising, reigning King. 43. THE HE Day of Resurrection! The Passover of Gladness! From earth unto the sky, Our hearts be pure from evil, That we may see aright The LORD in rays eternal Of Resurrection-Light: And, listening to His accents, Amen. May hear, so calm and plain, Now let the Heavens be joyful! |
