Diary of a Drummer Boy
The fictional journal of a real-life drummer boy in the Civil War. Orion Howe is the youngest person in history to receive a Congresional Medal of Honor. The author imagines what he might have written had he kept a journal, and in doing so is able to bring the sights and sounds of the civil war alive for young readers.
