Excerpt from Treason and Rebellion: Being in Part the Legislation of Congress and of the State of California Thereon, Together With the Recent Charge by Judge Field, of the U. S. Supreme Court

Sec. 3. No Attorney at Law shall be permitted to practice in any Court in this State until he shall have taken and filed in the office of the County Clerk OI the County in which the Attorney shall reside, the oath prescribed in this Act; and for every violation of the provisions of this section, the Attorney so offending shall be considered guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction, shall be fined in the sum of one thousand dollars.
