has not? by the incorrect and even reckless delineations of plants and flowers which
are seen in so many art productions of the present day. Perhaps the most terrible
sinners in this respect are the concocters of Christmas cards. Not merely for these,
however, but for all the designers and workers in wood, metal, stone, pottery, and glass,
Mr. Haité provides a sketch-book such as each artist might wish he had made for himself,
in which are exhibited, life-size, the foliage, flower, and fruit of the fifty plants which be
considers best adapted to decorative purposes. The garden pea, nasturtium, apple,
Canterbury bell, and sunflower have each a plate in the present number, and the drawing
is so good that it is to be hoped it may find its way into the hands of many professionals
as well as amateurs."-Pall Mall Gazette.
