54, 67, are of the fourth. Thus there are 27 plates in first impressions,
18 in second, 20 in third, and 6 in fourth impressions.

THERE IS A FURTHER ADDITION OF GREAT IMPORTANCE, NAMELY A DUPLI-
CATE OF PLATE 70 IN A PROOF STATE ANTERIOR TO THE FIRST PUBLISHED
ISSUE, of which the most striking peculiarity is the different treatment
of the chandelier, which has seven small distinct lights instead of a broad
single flare as in the regular plates; and the complete absence of the
inscription"Fear God and Honour the King." This plate bears an
inscription in pencil by Turner himself" Drawn, Etched, and Engraved
by J. M. W. Turner, R.A." Of this plate there is probably only one
other copy in existence.

The grand and picturesque effects of this great master of the English school of landscape painting are powerfully exhibited in this, which, after the Liber Studiorum, may be considered his finest work. The engravings were executed by the best English artists, and possess all the fidelity to nature of the original drawings.

"The collection of Egyptian Antiquities formed by the Rev. William MacGregor,
holds a high position in the estimation of students of the art of the past
acquired its reputation both for its general excellence and for including among its
treasures certain well-known objects of exceptional importance. Various classes of
Egyptian art are represented in the museum of Bolehall Manor House, the predominating
interest, however, resting with its display of the ceramic art. The examples in this
department permit the opportunity of taking a comprehensive survey of the progress of
the art of the Egyptian potter from an early period up to that of its latest development,
such as is scarcely to be found elsewhere."-Preface.

"The present series of plates continues the record of the Thirteenth Century Persian Lustre Ware commenced by the writer in 1885. At that period only four examples of the art had been identified. Those which have been found since then have been brought to Europe separately, excepting in one instance; it has happened, therefore, that their illustration has been in no regular sequence."-Author. 303 WALPOLE. In 1768 a Mr. Cookworthy had obtained a monopoly of the china clay of Cornwall, In 1774 Cook worthy transferred his patent to Mr. Champion of Bristol, who soon after applied to Parliament for its extension for a further period of 14 years, when the original term should have expired. This application was vigorously opposed by the potters, especially by Wedgwood. The arguments, advanced by the two opposing sides, are set forth in this pamphlet.
