It raises our admiration for the author to learn at the very beginning of his work
that God was a Puritan at heart, and that he gave to the New Englanders the land of
the Indians for their rightful possession. This reminds us of the story told ante
under Fernandez de Enciso,-the only difference being that the gift was made in that
case by the Pope to the King of Spain; while in the later instance the Almighty
himself stepped in to endow his faithful Puritans with the property of other men.

VERY RARE. This is the narrative of the second Voyage to the East Indies performed for the new East India Company of London. Sir Henry Middleton who commanded the expedition, started from Gravesend on March 25, 1604. and returned to the Downs on 6 May, 1606.-The relation is anonymous, but certain words lead to a suspicion that it was written by Sir Henry Middleton's brother.

The first voyage of the East India Company had been made in 1601, by James

Lancaster, but the narrative was never printed and is now lost.
