Gradual accession of evidence to the truth of

Christianity.

MATTHEW xiii. 16, 17.

But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your

ears, for they hear. For, verily I say unto you,

that many prophets and righteous men have de-

MARK ix. 12.

And after six days, Jesus taketh with him Peter,

and James, and John, and leadeth them into an

high mountain apart by themselves, and He was

transfigured before them.

And when he was come to the other side into the

country of the Gergesenes, there met him two pos-

sessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, ex-

ceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that

way.

Parable of the Lost Sheep.

I say unto

unto you,

LUKE XV. 7.

that likewise joy shall be in heaven

over one sinner that repenteth, more than over

ninety and nine just persons, which need no re-

pentance.

SERMON IX.

Parable of the Unjust Steward.

LUKE xvi. 8, 9.

And the Lord commended the unjust steward, be-

cause he had done wisely; for the children of

this world are in their generation wiser than the

children of light. And I say unto you, Make to

yourselves friends of the mammon of unright-

eousness, that, when ye fail, they may receive

you into everlasting habitations.

St. Paul's Conversion.

ACTS xxvi. 28.

Then Agrippa said, Almost thou persuadest me

to be a Christian.

St. Paul at Athens.

ACTS xvii. 22, 23.

Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and

said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all

things ye are too superstitious. For as I passed

by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar

with this inscription, To THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, Him de-

clare I unto you.
