ReviewsUser reviewsUser Review - Flag as inappropriate Grammar is rubbish. User Review - Flag as inappropriate The book serves best at critical thinking. The author is not very versed with political Philosophies such as democracy and beyond. Moreover the author is ill informed about Economics. Nevertheless the authors nails at the flaws of history teaching as well as notions and the diseases of patriotism, nationalism and "stateism". Author make excellent points about the notion of blind obedience under the influence of patriotism. He makes single most valuable point about herofication. However the author has clearly not read or studied "Human Action" and "Socialism" (Available free online) by Murray Rothbard. User Review - Flag as inappropriate Wonderful read in or out of class. Lowen opened my eyes and helped me realize that no one, no matter how great and glorified, can be a perfect role model. Lies My Teacher Told Me gives the secrets and buried details about american heroes that school issued text books purposely leave out. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone seeking the truth about history. User Review - Flag as inappropriate This book really showed that time of the 1800's with the war going on. It was a touching and heart felt book that really moved me in a way that I haven't before. The one soldier notes that they are spending more time on the War of 1812 than on our longest war: Vietnam. The wars between us and Vietnam were really bad during the time period and everyone was suffering from it. People wer dieing for no reason here and there. This book really tells the sides of the story that shows you why we should have just left thing the way that they belong and not messed with. I strongly recommend this book, I had a great time reading it and wouldn't mind being moved again by such a great piece of writing. User Review - Flag as inappropriate Woodrow Wilson wasn't a racist. He actually helped minority groups and married a Native American woman. I don't know what your definition of a rast is, but last I experienced, they don't like Native Americans let alone marry them and have a family with them. User Review - Flag as inappropriate This book nails it. As a History Minor/buff, and certified Social Sciences Educator of grades 6-12, I had to wait until university to find out the real history of my own country! We should not teach false propaganda in our schools. This is the US, not Nazi Germany! Every History Teacher should be required to read this book. This is the reason I will not teach the trash our textbooks contain. User Review - Flag as inappropriate This book is awesome. I discovered different things about the history. MAny information in high school textbooks omitted/ exagerrated facts about the history. User Review - Flag as inappropriate My daughter (Sara) brought this book home from college several years ago. I’ve read it at least three times. Now I know why Jr. High, High School and freshmen college American History classes were so boring and how the Viet Nam War started and why T...he Pilgrim Fathers is capitalized. And by the way, Jackie Robinson was not the first, black professional baseball player. He was not even the first black integrated professional baseball player. But he is still one of my heroes. User Review - Flag as inappropriate Wonderful book. The author compares high school history textbooks used throughout the country and compares their inaccuracies! It is no wonder why our kids do not know anything--they are learning different things, and mostly incorrectly. He points out Woodrow Wilson's racism and the rise of the KKK from Birth of a Nation that was shown in the WHITE HOUSE! EXCELLENT must read! | User ratings
