THE motive for the publication of 'The Second War of Independence in America,' which appeared in January last, was the earnest desire, by means of a short and conscientious exposition of the American question, to correct, as far as possible, the erroneous notions which had been propagated in Germany with regard to this unholy conflict. The attention with which every event in the course of this war is followed, proves how intimately the sympathies and interests of Europe are concerned in it.
