In this volume I have grouped all the Bank of Tennessee cases, regardless of the chronology of their decision, for the convenience of the profession; and, owing to the importance of the issues involved in the litigation, as well as the merits of the briefs of some of the most eminent lawyers of our State, I have been induced on this occasion, though contrary to my custom, to publish the arguments of counsel,-and since some of the questions in these suits are still of interest to the people and profession, their able discussion cannot fail to be of importance.
