HEADQUARTERS MARINE CORPS, Quartermaster Marine Corps. Quartermaster's Office, Washington, June 5, 1861. H. Ex. Doc. 1-7 W. B. SLACK, No. 7.--SUMMARY STATEMENT. Supplemental estimates of appropriations required to meet deficiencies in the appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1861, and for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1862, for the navy. POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT, June 15, 1861. SIR In reply to your letter of the 24th ult., I have to state that the appropriations which were embraced in the legislation of the last Congress will be sufficient, in the aggregate, (so far as can now be foreseen,) for all the purposes of this department during the remainder of the current fiscal year, as well as for its probable expenditures during the period extending from the 1st of July, 1861, to the 30th of June, 1862.
