The Secretary of State, in obedience to the act to regulate and fix the compensation of clerks in the different offices, approved April 20, 1818, and to the 11th section of "An act legalizing and making appropriations for such necessary objects as have usually been included in the general appropriation bills, without authority of law, and to fix and provide for certain incidental expenses of the departments and offices, and for other purposes," approved August 26, 1852, respectfully reports the accompanying statements, (A, B, and C,) containing, in addition to the information required by those acts, that called for by a resolution of the House of Representatives of January 13, 1846.
